SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
Welcome to the submissions call for First Flashes, an anthology of unpublished poets. The current plan is to make the anthology available in mid-September 2022 in as many forms as possible, including print and e-book form. The goal is to spotlight and reveal new poets.
Why? Because I see talent out there every day. Yes, on Facebook and on Spillwords and elsewhere. But many of these talented poets haven't had the benefit of editing, the publishing process, and the kind of promotion and attention to detail that I can give to a project like this. I've been around a while and seen a lot in my writing and publishing career.
With your help and creative talent, I think we can put together an anthology that will blow people away. I also think we can get it in front of enough people to make it worth doing.
Here's the details.
Submit one poem. 60 lines max.
Any theme, any style.
Deadline: July 1st, 2022.
Payment for poems is $ .10 to $1.00 per line for first print and electronic rights only. Payment on publication. Rights revert back to author after publication.
You can only submit if you've never published a poem. Posting on the Internet doesn't count as being published. However, be careful here, because I don't want poems that have been posted. I just mean if you've posted on FB or elsewhere, I don't consider you published. In fact, if you post on Facebook or elsewhere I may spot you and ask you to submit something.
No previously published or posted poems. Simultaneous submissions are fine. You can submit as many times as you like, but only one poem at a time, please. Wait until you hear back before submitting again.
